Recon Quick Market Update - February 24, 2021

Posted by Hank Newman on Feb 24, 2021 4:36:21 PM

We all know the weather that pounded the entire country last week, but I find the DAT Capacity weekly graph below fascinating.

Freight Industry UpdateFor many, including us, last week was one of the worst weeks for truckload capacity in memory.  Cleaning up the mess, or backlog, will surely send rates higher.
If you had freight delayed, not picked up, etc, - well I would say you were with plenty of company!
Take a look at this!  It's going to be really interesting to see how LTL performance was once the week's shipments settle out (though the weather is NOT a carrier failure so we may actually see fewer failures overall).
DAT Capacity vs LTL Performance 2.27.2021
***DAT Capacity is a measurement of the supply of available trucks in the marketplace relative to loads needing a truck. A higher number means more loads than trucks available.
LTL Performance is based on metrics captured daily by the Recon Operations Teams including damages, late deliveries, missed pickups, etc. These metrics are inclusive of Regional and National LTL carriers.
