Recon Market Update - January 22, 2021

Dare we say there is some light showing down that tunnel?  Our estimate is that there is indeed some light, although it may be more a signal light before the tunnel takes another turn.

Indicators are showing extreme easing in TL capacity right

now (lowest reading since mid-June 2020) which is clearly helping to bring down spot rates and increasing LTL carrier performance.  We may see rates dropping some and leveling out for a time, maybe even thru all of 2021, but the longer-term indicators still point to higher rates in the future, especially in LTL.
 
In any case, let's enjoy some easing for now - could certainly use it!
